I had the idea for Christmas gifts to make drawings with ink on plain white mugs and/or plates. I'm not sure how to go about doing this though. Is there a special kind of mug I need to buy, or will any regular white mug from the store work? Does it have to be unglazed or something? What kind of ink or paint is best to use? How can I make sure it doesn't wash off? Can anyone help me out?

I did a similar project last christmas - I painted a mug for my dad and a teapot for my sister.
I bought some paint that is specially made for ceramics - you paint it on (to any ceramic object) and then bake it in the oven for a few minutes to harden the paint. After you bake it, it becomes dishwasher and microwave safe.

I bought it from a craft store, the brand I got is pebeo, although there are a couple other brands as well. The ones I have come in little jars, but I notice you can also buy "paint pens" of the same brands that work the same way.
